Joyce was born in the Black Hills of South Dakota on August 6, 1958. She dedicated her life to God and her family. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, consecrated to Mary, and practiced the “little way” of simple, honest expressions of great love.
She loved music, dancing, swimming, reading, writing, praying, nature, the moon, the stars and baking with her grandchildren. She was a keen observer of life and she remembered little details about everyone and everything. She loved deeply and was deeply loved.
She was called home on October 7, 2021 and is resting in the arms of our Lord.
She was preceded in heaven by her sons James Robert and Jason Theodore Kirk, and her parents James Cletus and Mary Catherine Coyle. She is survived by her beloved husband Mark Kirk, her daughters Jessica Kirk and Katherine Martin, her son-in-law Billy Martin and grandchildren Liam, Jack, and Ava Martin. She is also survived by her siblings Barbara Williams (Brian), Elizabeth Veren, Madonna Sullivan, Michael Coyle (Ella), Mary Lou Creighton, Patty Jo Pantling (Jim) and Aileen Matthews (Bruce) and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing to be held at 10:30AM on Friday, October 15, 2021, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Littleton, CO.
Viewing & Visitation will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral home in Rapid City, SD; interment will follow at 1:00PM at Mountain View - Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City, South Dakota.
