RAPID CITY | Jeffrey Alost his battle with cancer on September 8, 2018.
Jeff had requested that his friends and family attend his celebration of life wearing his favorite color, blue or the colors of his favorite flower, the sunflower.

Rapid City.
The Rapid City community is giving back to a man who's given them so much.
We show you how they're taking care of a man diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Earlier this week, more than 500 people gathered at the James Kjerstad Event Center in Rapid City to help Jeff Jundt.
Jeff was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer that forms in the bile ducts connecting the liver to the gallbladder.
Kevin McPherson, Jeff's friend and event organizer, says, "Been kind of an emotional roller coaster to say the least. It's hard when your friend gets the kind of news that Jeff has and of course the news that Jeff has received as the doctors have said, there's really nothing we can do."
Unfortunately the cancer spread to his kidney, lungs, liver, back, and many other parts of his body.
To help pay his mounting medical bills, his friends and family hosted an auction and chili feed.
Many of the people we talked to say they've known Jeff for 30 years, some even more, but they all agree he's heavily involved in the community.
Kevin McPherson says, "He's had several different positions. He used to work for Dakota Steel here in Rapid City. He also owned JD's Pizza out in Rapid Valley. He's also had JD's Catering."
Jeff's brother Robbie describes him as quite the jokester.
Robbie Jundt says, "He is nothing but a corker. He's fun-loving. As you see the place is full. He's never met a stranger. It doesn't matter how much money you have. And it doesn't matter who you are. He'd give you the shirt off his back."
Despite feeling tired lately, Jeff was able to stop by the fundraiser and express his gratitude to everyone who came.
Jeff Jundt says, "I can't believe when you walk in and you see all these faces, you guys make me want to cry. I've been really strong. I'm still going to be strong, and I want you all to be strong with me."
If you missed the benefit, there will also be an online auction starting on September 24th and ending on September 25th at 6pm at mcphersonauction.com.
