Janette Burns

It is with profound sadness that I must share the passing of my younger sister Janette Burns. Just 54 years old, Janette felt ill on the morning of Halloween. By that afternoon she was having five hours of emergency brain surgery. Surgery from which she never awoke. The situation was caused by very high blood pressure, along with a host of other factors. During the days that followed many people visited and she was in the thoughts and prayers of friends and family. Despite our prayers and hopes for a miracle, eventually doctors determined the situation was hopeless. A Catholic priest visited late last week. After fighting courageously to stay with us for more than a week, Janette slipped into His hands early Monday morning. I was at her side. She seemed peaceful, rested and relieved. We lost our mom earlier this year. Mom and Janette were very close. Perhaps mom was calling her. Janette will he placed next to mom in South Dakota in a private service with family. Janette had a clever wit and a wry sense of humor. Whenever she spent time with family, there was always laughter. I admire her because she always did what she wanted to do. She was very happy. We are sad she is gone, but we are relieved her pain and suffering are over. I miss her already. — at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
